Immunization Awareness

August is Immunization Awareness month at the Operators’ Health Center (Oimmunization picHC)!

Vaccines were developed to protect you from dangerous and often fatal diseases.  Disease prevention is the key to public health.  It’s always better to prevent than treat.

Who needs immunizations:

Everyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu shot annually:

  • Infants and young children- children under the age of 6 (please note that the OHC can start to see patient’s as young as two years old) need a series of shots to protect against measles, polio, chickenpox and hepatitis
  • Preteens- to protect against tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough and meningitis; the HPV vaccine is also recommended.
  • Adults- some adults were never vaccinated as children, newer vaccines are now available, immunity can begin to fade over time and aging means more susceptibility to serious diseases caused by common infections.

Give the OHC a call at 708-485-2273 or click here to register on the OHC patient portal and schedule your appointment with just a few clicks of your mouse. A member of our friendly staff looks forward to meeting you.
