Eligible members and their eligible dependents will have access to medical or dental services or supplies provided outside of the United States in the following circumstances:
If you meet the above criteria, your medical or dental services or supplies will be provided outside of the United States if treatment is for an accident or an unforeseen, acute medical emergency. In other words, if you or your child has minor cuts, bruises, or the sniffles, these services WILL NOT be covered.
If you do require treatment for an accident or an unforeseen, acute medical emergency, you will be required to pay for services up front. Please be sure to save a copy of a detailed receipt for the services rendered. Upon your return from your vacation, you will need to submit the receipt along with:
Finally, any travel within the United States will be covered but bear in mind, you will want to continue to use an in-network provider versus an out-of-network provider, whenever possible, to reduce your expenses. Always carry your medical ID card and your vendor card with you at all times.
